Because of the lack of rain and very dry conditions throughout Essex county and the state, we want to emphasize the importance of all residents using extreme caution. There currently is a fire ban in effect for all of New Jersey. Please remember, outdoor wood and charcoal fires are prohibited. Fireworks should not be used or set off. Smoking is not allowed in our Essex county parks. Outdoor fires are only permitted in Essex county parks if they are contained within an elevated stove that uses propane, natural gas or electricity. Please do not discard cigarettes near parks or piles of leaves, and avoid parking your vehicle on piles of leaves. If you are putting up holiday decorations or lights, please make sure the wires are in good condition and not frayed or damaged. Thank you for your cooperation and please stay safe.
